Built in 1858 on rural Charles Street Avenue in North Baltimore and later home to Baltimore's Garrett family from 1878 to 1952, Evergreen has witnessed a century and a half of history. "Ever Baltimore," a special history-focused museum tour, highlights events of the 19th and 20th centuries — the Civil War, industrial America and the rise of railroads, the women's suffrage movement, the World Wars, art patronage in the Gilded Age — through the lives and collections of this opulent mansion's former residents.

Sculpture at Evergreen 2008

FREE

One of Baltimore’s most popular and fun outdoor summer art events returns! Since 2000, Evergreen has invited artists from across the country to create site-specific sculptures on the 26-acre grounds of this 19th-century mansion. For the fifth biennial exhibition, guest curator Andrea Pollan (named “Best Curator of 2008” by the Washington City Paper) has invited artists from New York (Brian Balderston, Adam Frelin, Rebecca Herman and Mark Shoffner, Hyungsub Shin, and Mike Womack), Pennsylvania (Michele Kong), Virginia (Jeannine Harkleroad), Texas (Sharon Engelstein, J Hill), and Illinois (Wee Lit Tan), to make their mark on the historic estate.

Through Monday, September 29, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Plein Air Evergreen
FREE.

Professional and novice artists alike are invited to draw artistic stimulation and inspiration from Evergreen’s 26-acre garden and grounds during the museum’s outdoor Sculpture at Evergreen exhibition, and create art en plein air, a French expression meaning “in the open air.”
