From Baltimore's Inner Harbor

Go north on Charles Street approximately 5 miles. Turn left on University Parkway. Take the first left into the university's North Gate circular entrance and follow signs for Homewood Museum parking. (See campus map).

From I-95 (southbound) or from I-695 (Baltimore Beltway)

Take the beltway toward Towson to I-83 south. Take exit 7 to 28th Street. Turn left onto Charles Street. Turn left onto University Parkway. Take the first left into the university's North Gate circular entrance and follow signs for Homewood Museum parking. (See campus map).

From I-95 (northbound)

Take exit 53 onto I-395 north toward downtown Baltimore, then take the exit to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and follow the directions from Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard below.

From Maryland 295 (Baltimore-Washington Parkway)

Entering Baltimore, the parkway becomes Russell Street. Stay on Russell Street until (with the Baltimore Ravens stadium to your right and Oriole Park at Camden Yards looming before you) you reach the right-hand exit marked Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard (look carefully for this; the signs are small). This exit will put you very briefly on a service road parallel to Russell Street. Stay to the left and take the ramp marked Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Follow the directions (below) from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

From Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard

Take MLK Boulevard north until it ends at Howard Street (remain in one of the middle lanes of MLK Boulevard to avoid a premature forced right or left turn). Turn left at Howard Street. One block past 29th Street, Howard Street will bear right and become Art Museum Drive. Follow Art Museum Drive (with the Baltimore Museum of Art to your left) until it ends at Charles Street. Turn left at Charles Street and stay to the left. You will pass the university and Homewood Museum on your left. Turn left at the third set of lights onto University Parkway. Take the first left into the university's North Gate circular entrance and follow signs for Homewood Museum parking. (See campus map).

From the Jones Falls Expressway (I-83) southbound

Take the 28th Street exit to 28th Street east. Turn left onto Charles Street and stay to the left. Turn left at the fourth set of lights onto University Parkway. Take the first left into the university's North Gate circular entrance and follow signs for Homewood Museum parking. (See campus map).

From Baltimore's Penn Station

If you opt to take a taxi from Penn Station to Homewood Museum, the fee should be quite modest. The museum is very close to the train station.

Information for Bus Drivers

All groups arriving at Homewood Museum by bus must load and unload from the university's East Gate circular entrance on Charles Street (service road going south). Homewood is the last building on the right next to the Milton Eisenhower Library.(See campus map).

Public Transportation

Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) bus routes 3, 11, and 27 (local, $1.60) stop within four blocks of Homewood Museum. Click here for travel by public transit.

Baltimore Collegetown Shuttle

The Baltimore Collegetown Shuttle (free with college i.d.), a service of the Baltimore Collegetown Network (BCN), is a free student shuttle that runs between five local colleges. Use the Johns Hopkins stop, at the MSE Library Circle. The museum is located on the circle, to the right of the library.

Parking

Visitors to Homewood Museum may pay to park in JHU visitor lots, or use city-metered street parking. For more information about these parking options, please call Homewood Museum at 410.516.5589.

Homewood Museum Lot

This nine-space pay-to-park metered lot, including one handicapped space, is located next to the tennis courts and the AMR dorm buildings and accessed from North Charles Street. The meter is in effect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and accepts coins, debit cards, and credit cards. The rate is $2 per hour with a 2 hour maximum at all times. After pre-paying, simply display the printed parking receipt on the dashboard of your vehicle. (See campus map #49).

JHU South Garage

This 600-space underground parking facility is located at 3101 Wyman Park Drive, opposite and just north of the Wyman Park Building. The garage is beneath the Decker Quadrangle (formerly Garland Field). The weekday rate begins at $3 for up to 1 hour with a $12 daily maximum. A $5 flat rate is in effect from 3:45 p.m. to midnight on weekdays and all day on weekends. (See campus map #2).

On-Street Parking

Baltimore City’s E-Z Park pay-and-display metered parking is available along North Charles Streets. E-Z Park Meters accept coins, debit cards, and credit cards. After pre-paying, simply display the printed parking receipt on the dashboard of your vehicle.
