In cooperation with Hampton National Historic Site, Homewood presents "The Architecture of Maryland's Agriculture," a symposium on Saturday, April 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Take a closer look at the architecture of agricultural structures that were part of the landscape surrounding Baltimore's early country houses through lectures and guided tours. The program begins at Johns Hopkins' Merrick Barn theater—Homewood's original barn—and continues at Hampton with a behind-the-scenes architectural tour of the estate's mansion and outbuildings.

L'Armonia de Cieli
An exciting, new Peabody ensemble specializing in music of the late Renaissance and early Baroque periods, L'Armonia de Cieli is comprised of Andrew Arceci, viola da gamba; John Armato, lute; Ed Greenhood, lute and Renaissance guitar; Bryce Peltier, recorders and Julia Steinbok, soprano. They will perform works by Dowland, Bataille, Hume, Praetorius and Huygens. A reception with the musicians in the wine cellar follows the performance.

Matt Haimovitz, solo cello
Encountering Matt Haimovitz in concert is an unforgettable experience. Don't miss this chance to hear one of the world's finest classical cellists! The program includes selections from J.S. Bach's 6 Suites for Cello Solo, of which Haimovitz has made headlines with his path-breaking performances, in addition to works by contemporary composers György Ligeti and Ned Rorem.

The "En Route" tour series allows visitors to meet contemporary artists and discuss their art as they make their way through the museum.  On Sunday, April 29, the 2 and 3 p.m. docent-led tours feature visits with Baltimore artists Richard Cleaver and Lauren Ross, whose work is part of the Building a Legacy exhibition. Guided ArtWalks
Over 200 years of history in less than a quarter mile...

Guided Historic Homewood ArtWalks continue on Saturdays in April. Pick up the tour from either Homewood Museum at 1 p.m. or the Baltimore Museum of Art at 2 p.m. This 45-minute tour covering the historic and artistic sites between Homewood and the BMA is the perfect reason to get outdoors and enjoy spring's warmer weather and flowers.

to Deliver 2007 Garrett Urban Lecture

Edward J. Blakely, Executive Director for Recovery Management for the City of New Orleans, is a distinguished scholar of urban affairs and nationally and internationally recognized for his extensive experience in the design of recovery strategies for cities across the United States.

This is the second part of the "Rebuilding America's Cities" lecture series, co-presented by Evergreen and the Johns Hopkins Institute for Policy Studies.

Restoring Montpelier
The Home of James and Dolly Madison 
Tuesday, Apr. 17, 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Don’t miss this once in a lifetime chance to witness the $60 million dollar restoration of Montpelier, returning it to the size, structure, form, and furnishings that James and Dolly Madison called their home in the 1820s. We'll also fit in a trip to the Barboursville Ruins, the site of the once imposing mansion designed by Thomas Jefferson for James Barbour, governor of Virginia from 1812-1814. Preserved as historic ruins after its destruction by fire in 1884, Barboursville was the largest residence designed by Jefferson, and one of only three houses he created outside of his own Monticello and Poplar Forest.
