Evergreen's Holiday House Guests

Artist-in-Residence exhibitions continue through Jan. 14

Expecting a gaggle of house guests this holiday season?  Bring them to Evergreen and introduce them to the work of the Museum's own two guests, painter Amy Chan (shown at right) and installation artist Richard Torchia.

In Amy Chan's landscapes, the familiar surroundings of suburban America fracture into isolated islands separated by oceans of neutral space.  Meanwhile, Richard Torchia offers a series of site-specific "interventions" that invite visitors to engage in Evergreen's profusion of cultural and historical references.

The works are on view during regularly scheduled museum tours, offered on the hour Tuesday - Friday: 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.; Saturday - Sunday: noon - 4 p.m. (the last tour departs at 3 p.m.).

Homewood Announces Winter Focus Show

SAVE THE DATE!
Free opening on Thursday, Jan. 4, 5 - 7 p.m.

Please join us at the opening reception for Homewood's 5th annual winter focus exhibition, Feathers, Fins, and Fur: The Pet in Early Maryland, this year organized by Johns Hopkins University students as part of an undergraduate seminar, and presented in partnership with the Maryland SPCA

From early American bird cages and spike-studded dog collars to classified ads and recipes for pet food, this collaborative exhibition explores views of the pets and livestock that were part of early Maryland's scenery, and expecially of Homewood, the 1801 country house of the Carroll family.
