The Early Bird Catches the Worm

Be one of the first to see Homewood's winter focus show!
(It's the cat's meow.)

Opening Reception:
Thursday, Jan. 4, 5 - 7 p.m.

Homewood's 5th annual winter focus show explores views of the pets and livestock that were part of early Maryland's scenery, and especially of Homewood, the 1801 country house of the Carroll family.  It was curated by Johns Hopkins students enrolled in the undergraduate seminar: "Introduction to Material Culture: The Pet in Early America," co-taught during the fall '06 semester by Catherine Rogers Arthur, curator of Homewood, and Bill Leslie, a professor in the Department of History of Science and Technology.

The opening reception is FREE, and features adoptable pets from the Maryland SPCA in Homewood's wine cellar.  Click here to let us know you're coming!

The focus show, presented in partnership with the Maryland SPCA, is on view through March 31 as part of regularly scheduled Museum tours, and is included in Museum admission.  Free Museum admission will be granted to visitors who bring in an item from the SPCA's Animal Wish List.
