art gallery opened in 1934 by Alice Warder
Garrett, the last person ever to reside at
Evergreen. Both exhibitions are on view at Evergreen
Museum & Library as part of regular museum tours. Free

Welcome
Little Stranger: Pregnancy, Childbirth, and Family in
Early Maryland Cribs, cradles,
silver baby bottle nipples, forceps and early medical
books, and other items on display will offer a look at
practices, traditions, and politics concerning childbirth
and childrearing in Maryland, particularly those of
Homewood's Carroll family, at the turn of the 19th
century. A
student-curated focus show on view at Homewood Museum Jan.
17 through Mar. 30 as part of regular museum tours. Free
with museum admission.

WEEKLY CLASSES JAN. 28–FEB.
25 Would
you like to volunteer to give tours of
Evergreen? A new docent
training course will begin in late January and meet weekly
through February. Docents are required to complete a
five-week course led by museum staff that includes an
overview on Garrett family history, Evergreen's
collections, and tour guide techniques.
Classes will be
held Mondays, Jan. 28–Feb. 25, from 10 am. to 12
